The evidence of a crime may disappear over time, but the scars it leaves remain forever. Some are visible on the body; others hide in the mind, in social life, and even in institutions that are supposed to protect citizens. These marks affect not only victims but also professionals who daily navigate between violence and justice.

This is why the Forensic Scars project was born — a space for reflection, reporting, testimony, education, and interactive investigation. Here, every article, every podcast episode, and even every forensic and criminal game invites you to look at crime differently: not just as a fact to be solved, but as an experience that leaves deep and lasting marks.

The Creator’s Voice – Maria da Conceição

“As the creator and responsible party for the Forensic Scars project, the podcast, and this article, I decided to embark on a profound and courageous investigation into one of the most obscure and silenced crimes today: the illegal recruitment of minors by institutions of power.

This first season is structured in eight episodes, each approaching, in a detailed and interconnected way, the most significant stages of this reality.

Contextualized with forensic, psychological, and legal analyses. Throughout this journey, I have received support from legal professionals in various countries and psychological assistance from specialized departments, which allows me to proceed with safety, clarity, and maturity in this public sharing.”

First Season of the Podcast

The first season of the Forensic Scars podcast, titled Silenced Crimes: Illegal Recruitment, High-Level Abuse, and Institutional Cover-Ups, delves into stories of abuse of power and how institutions can silence victims instead of protecting them.
Each episode is an open scar, revealing not only the facts but also the human impact: fear, loss, resilience, and the search for justice. These are not just crimes; they are invisible marks left on people’s lives.

🎙️ Forensic Scars Podcast

Episode 1 – The Stolen Childhood
In this opening episode, we guide the listener through the dark world of illegal recruitment of minors.

It’s the first encounter with forensic scars — not only physical evidence, but also the deep emotional marks carried by the protagonist, Martinna Beckett, as she narrates her pain and survival.

This episode exposes the vulnerability of those who trust institutions meant to protect them — institutions that too often become the very stage of abuse.
Episode 2 – The Silent Signature
In the second episode, we explore the power of institutional silence.

More than a detail, silence is a deliberate strategy used to erase crimes and isolate victims.

The presentation is led by me, Maria da Conceição;

Giving full focus to Martinna’s voice.

This episode reveals the true weight of forensic scars — not only the wounds caused by abuse, but also the emptiness left by the absence of response, support, and justice.
🔍 Upcoming Episodes – A Glimpse Ahead

• Episode 4 – The Price of Silence: analyzing the consequences of institutional silence.
• Episode 5 – Rape and Silence: the abuse the system refuses to see — hidden sexual violence and impunity.
• Episode 6 – Blocked Paths: when justice falls silent — the obstacles in seeking justice.
• Episode 7 – The Invisible Scars: the lasting mark of trauma.
• Episode 8 – The Voice That Survived the Silence: resistance, resilience, and reconstruction.
🩸 The Invisible Scars
These episodes reveal something essential: forensic scars are not only evidence used to solve a crime — they are invisible marks that remain with the victim, the professionals who investigate, and the communities that often choose not to see.
These scars are also collective:
A society that silences victims carries the stain of impunity, and an institution that protects abusers loses its credibility.
